I took out a loan from the AA Finance (Automobile Association) April 2006, originally for 5 years repayment. I actually managed to repay the loan early in Nov'2008 with a settlement figure agreed by the AA. I had PPI added to the loan at the time of taking it out. Can I try to reclaim back the PPI from the AA or does this just apply to Banks? How would I do this as someone said to me today not to use the companies advertising but to try it myself? Is this something you would recommend or would it be better to go through a company qualified to do this? Is there a letter format or form I have to complete and how would I go about finding this please. Any advice and has anyone done this, have you been successful?

Yes you can claim against AA.
Unless you have no spare time do the claim yourself using the standard letters available on the Martin Lewis MSE site

Thank you I will give it a go .. they can only say No I suppose :)
Do it staight away. I believe there is a six-year time limit.
I put a claim in 2 week ago with Halifax, really easy i did it over the phone. i wouldnt use one of those companies.
Used a form provided by Barclays - straightforward to fill out. They say they will make decision by 20th March. As AA are providing banking services they are surely governed by banking regulations. Go for it. Good luck.
Have a go. We use one of the reclaim companies, we find it a great deal less hassle than doing it ourselves, and it certainly works.
