A company called loanmakers (now defunct) but help needed.

I'm attempting to claim back mis sold PPI - my loan was with Firstplus, as was the insurance, but it was arranged by a company called Loanmakers who are no longer in business. I tried to do this using one of those firms for this sort of thing, but they basically said Firstplus were passing the buck to Loanmakers, and as such they could no longer help for obvious reasons.
Long story short, I'm now attempting personally by making a claim to the FSC but I have to provide details of loanmakers, and I have nothing. The loan has since been paid off following a house move, prior to which I probably got rid of any loanmakers stuff (didn't think I would need it again), so I need to supply addresses etc.
I've found one in Bolton, which does a quasimodo on me, but I can't help wondering if this was the only one.
Does anyone (maybe someone who unfortunately used them as well) know for sure or any different. I would also be interested to anyone who has made a similar claim (same companies) and any advice they can give.

They are already trading under another neme - I'm looking for info as was. Chances are because of previous complaints details are already known by them but I need to complete the form with what I believe it to be. I'm ffairly certain the Bolton one I have is right, but I was hoping to find someone else who used them.

Per Companies House, Loanmakers UK Limited had a registered office in Bolton, but the company was dissolved in March this year.
There were also companies called Loanmakers (Holdings) PLC, with registered offices in Manchester, dissolved in May 2010 and LoanmakersLimited, registered offices in Glasgow, dissolved in May 2010.
Unfortunately there are many companies called Firstplus, but I think that if they are still in existence this is the company name that you should supply the necessary details for the FSCS.
It doesn't matter that the original mis-selling company has gone into liquidation, as General Insurance brokers are being charged thousands of pounds by the FSCS to pay the compensation for a product that the majority of them did not sell, putting many of them in danger of going out of business.

I know little about this area but I would have thought that as your loan was with FirstPlus and they required you to have the PPI (through Matchmakers) your misselling claim would be against FirstPlus.
Having said that, if a claims company that makes money from pursuing these claims decides not to pursue it then maybe it is going to be difficult for you.

As I said, I originally used an agent, and there were reasons why they couldn't proceed. I suspect "wouldn't" applied more, but the advice was to try myself through the official compensation scheme. From what I have seen I am not alone in that, and, subject to filling the forms correctly, I don't see that many problems and am hopeful. That said, it was Firstplus who supplied the loan and insurance so I don't fully understand the rigmarole I have to go through.

I dont know whether you are still seeking information but I have a similar situation. I took a loan out in 2008 with Nemo Personal finance with a policy and I found out years later when trying to make a ppi claim that this loanmakers who I believe were agents for the policy were in another country and so we could not pursue our claim. Years later I now find out that we should have pursued a claim with the help of the Ombudsman. I was fighting the claim against Loanmakers for 3 years and thought that was the end of the matter. The Ombudsman now tell me that Nemo should have dealt with the matter at the time. If you wish to correspond with me anymore you can contact me on [email protected].
