I bought my Packard Bell desktop in Nov 10 so still quite new. It wouldn't shut down this morning so I held down the power button until it ent off. Now when I'm trying to restart it, I'm just getting a high tone - what has gone wrong and can I fix it? Thanks

Pull the power lead from it for 30sec just to make sure it really is off and not suspended and then try again.

If still no joy then if you're confident check the RAM is seated properly and also the graphics card (if it has one). Other than that, as it's only a few months old I'd suggest a warranty call.
Thanks for that Chuck - I think that it hadn't been shutting down properly, so I unplugged the power lead and left it for an hour, and now it's working again. Thank you for your help.
