I have an area on the upper right hand side of my back which is giving me gip.
The area feels about 2-3 inches in diameter and is just inside my right scapula.
I thought it was a muscle knot but I'm not sure now.
I've tried gentle stretches, massage, upper back pain specific yoga manoevres, anti inflammatories (diclofenac and ibuprofen) checking my posture etc but the bloody thing is still there after about a month, it's driving me to distraction.
Any ideas ?

Sounds muscular...........perhaps a trip to GP re. chest X-Ray.

Thanks sqad - why a chest x-ray though ? (sounds worrying)
Just a reassuring investigation AP, ............it will almost certainly be normal.

ok - thanks.
I've had similar pains in said place on either sides and it's always gas. If you could have someone squeeze / massage the area that might help. For me, a squeeze on the area always help the gas to move and eventually I belch, and pains gone.
Do you suffer with indigestion generally? It can be referred pain from your stomach and could indicate helicobacter pylori infection. It's easy treated with antacids and antibiotics but can cause an ulcer if untreated - go to the docs AP :)

Thanks Karen, no I don't usually, the pain seems too close to the surface to be indigestion related. It almost feels like a bruise. I think it's just muscular tension.
When I get tense the muscles in my upper back usually give me trouble, it's just a bit weird that there is this one spot remaining the same.
Probably best to see your GP then AP - after a month you'll be getting fed up with it!
