I have a HiFi system that I no longer use, is it possible to wire the speakers into a TV to enhance the sound or do I need special speakers ??

Check outputs on TV. If you have a headphone outlet, you can plug in there and amplify through speakers.
If there are speaker connections, just connect up to them and try it .. that way should work fine .. in fact you may well be very surprised at the sound!

You need to connect red and White phono plugs to the tv output and to the amp and select AUX iinput. Turn tv Vol down.get Suitable RCA cable from eBay in all lengths or even 99p shop has them.
