I have just got rid of a `Sharp Music Centre` which I have had for about 20 odd years and want to, if possible, retain the turntable to play all my classical LP`s, and music from years gone bye by playing them via my 5-1. The thing is....can it be done? The Turntable is an Sharp RP-320E and the 5-1 is made by Acoustic Solutions DS 633. TIA

You like making things tricky for me don't you Carlton :)

OK, I can't find any details on that turntable, but assuming it has connections as shown below

(it will only have the red and white, not the yellow)

OK assuming it has those sockets you can connect it to that 5.1 system using standard phono leads to the audio in sockets on the 5.1 system, but there may be one very large catch...

Turntable produce a very very low level signal as standard and need a pre-amplifier to work when connected to normal phono sockets, you may be lucky and find that there is a pre-amplifier built into that turntable and it will work, if not you would need to purchase a separate pre-amp and run it through that first. something like this

the pre-amp will then boost the level of the turntable up to a suitable level so it would work with your 5.1 system.
incidentally, it may be easier to get a turntable that gives you a line level output as standard (if yours doesn't)

that one ^ also allows you to copy your records to your computer so you could write them to CD and use those rather than playing the records.
