Stoves oven problem

I have a Stoves Newhome electric built in oven. It developed a fault whereby it would heat for about half an hour, then cut off, with a smell of burning plastic. I could hear the fan working at first but it also stopped. I then discovered there are 2 fans. Determined to avoid a costly call out, I have bought new and replaced both fans but this has not solved the problem. The element obviously works or it would not heat.
I am now about to purchase a new thermostat as it is the last thing I can think of. Can anyone advise me if this is the most likely solution?

Thermostat switch control, complete with phial. I would think that would do it. Checked here ...
