Sorry, I know this could be considered in the wrong section, but a need an answer....

As far as I'm aware, there are 2 types of disc for burning things on from the pc. An audio cd & a dvd.

I stand corrected if I'm wrong, however, what type of disc do I need to use to transfer photos & movie clips from the pc to a disc?
Are they then able to be played on a dvd player?

Not sure about photos but I use DVD-RW discs to be able to view on a DVD player.
You can use either type, the only real difference between them is the amount they can store.

DVD's can store a lot more than CD's.

Photos are easy, just burn them onto disc put them in the DVD player and most will automatically do a slide show of all the photos on the disc.

getting your movie clips to play on a DVD player is a little harder, the clips have to be in the correct format to play on a DVD player, and DVD players vary in what formats they can play.

The only guaranteed way to get video to play on every DVD player is to burn the disc in the same format as a commercial DVD film, most decent burning software will let you do this, but it depends what you have. (but just to confuse you, you can burn a DVD format disc onto a CD fine if it will fit on it and it will still play fine)
