anyone know a quick handy formula for estimating running cost of an oil ch system--i know i know masses of variables, insulation, size of room, no. of radiators, operating temp etc etc etc etc --but i assume there is a quick handy guide a sales person would uses when compling an estimate for installing and estimating the running cost for a customer buying their product--cheers and thanks

It rather depends on the size of the house and the level of insulation.
With the current price of oil back down to around 32p per litre (as it was 3 years ago), its not a lot different from gas costs.
I use about 2000 litres per annum.

For the average semi it takes 2.4 litres to heat up the water and after that 1.2 litres per hour. Current oil cost is about 30-32p per litre
