We recently bought a Panasonic plasma tv and it's got what I have been told is ghosting on the screen (as though another program is on in the background) could anyone tell me what causes this, could it be our scart leads or do you think I should contact the suppier (Virgin)
Sorry if I'm in the wrong place but didn't know where else to go. TIA

If you have one of those multi scart adaptors with more than one thing plugged in at once, then that can cause ghosting. if your scart things are all plugged into separate sockets, then try unplugging each thing separately and see if that makes any difference.

If you have a normal TV aerial cable plugged in and you're receiving a TV signal through a cable or sky box try unplugging that as well.

Test everything like that individually and if you can test them on another TV as well. That will rule out or confirm a problem with a single piece of equipment or the TV. If it's the TV, then take it back to where you got it from, or at least ring/visit them first to save unplugging it and carting it back there unnecessarily.

Thanks very much for that info - we'll give it all a try and fingers crossed some of it will work. Thanks again.
If you have a lot of cables lying side by side behind the TV (if you have Sky, DVD, VHS, etc etc) then you can get interference from one cable to the other.

I had a similar problem as yours but I had very cheap (like 2.99) scart leads.

So I went out and bought some better leads from Argos (about 15 I think) and I have not had a problem since.
Can also help to turn off any equipment that isn't being used, i.e. if you are watching a DVD turn your SKY box off so that it isn't transmiting a signal.
does the image in the background move? if it is static then maybe its screen burn. is it an ex-display model?
Question Author
Yes it does move, as though another program is playing in the background.
Atmospheric interference could be the problem if you are only seeing ghosts occasionally
Question Author
No - it's on there all the time. We'll start by untangling the spaghetti of wire at the back then go on to buying new leads. Thanks again to you all.
