can i make a wood cube from 6 30cm sq's wood 1 cm thick or will some sides need to be slightly smaller

You could make a 4 sided cube (with no top or bottom) of 31 cm on each side by butt joining 4 of the 30 x 30 pieces. If one piece was laid on your table, another piece would 'stand' on it on one side and another beside the original on the other side, you would then see where the 4th peice goes. You would then have to cut down the other 2 pieces to 29 x 29 to fit in the holes top and bottom. Hope you can grasp what I mean!!

Lay one piece flat on the table, this will be the floor of the cube.

Glue first wall against edge of floor staggered 1cm off center so that edge of second adjacent wall (also glued against edge of floor) will butt up flush with end of first wall.

Continue around floor with edge of other two walls glued up on edge of floor.

The 'roof' should then set neatly on top.

Now then . . . where did I put that pair of miniature dice?
