My mate has a new satnav, and has lent me his old Tom Tom one for a few days to try.

On the second day, I turned it off at lunchtime, and now it won't turn on again. The green light comes on when the power cable is connected, but nothing else.

Any ideas?

During the morning I ran it on battery with no problems. I then plugged the power thing into the cig lighter before plugging it into the satnav, and it refused to come on. Would this have caused a problem?

had the same prob. keeping the 'on' button pressed for about ten seconds helped
another time just a couple of seconds - while plugged
also try taking sim card out
bit basic advice but good luck
Try phoning the TomTom support line. It's a local call rate, so it won't break the bank:

I have had this numerous times over several years but it is easy to sort out

There is a reset button hidden away underneath and you need a pin to reset it. Take it off the craddle and look underneath where the connections are. If you look at the connections, to the side you will notice 2 or 3 small metal circles (not raised, they look like they are on a circuit board) using a pin (you cant reach otherwise) press each circle in turn and try the on button after each.

One of them is the reset button and will get it working again as good as new

I hope this helps

Thanks up4it.

I had seen the reset button, but as he has added points of interest I was worried in case it lost info.

However after reading Chris's suggestion out of opening hours I decided to look at the Tom Tom website.

That lead me to the reset button, with the instruction to remove the SD card before doing it, and assured me of no loss of information.

I am happy to report total success.

Thanks again to all.
