No, it's not sad.
My hubby gives me gifts and surprises all the time without it having to be a special date.
He also does most things around the house for me too when I am at work.
So, every day is more or less a special day for us.
Just do not like being dictated to by the commercial industry, plus my Dad died on that date a few years ago, so it has sad memories or me.

I have one of the most caring husbands who ives me everything I want or ask for.Not that I ask for much.
He surprises me all the time, so 14th February is all year round for me. lol
Brings back memories of losing my Dad though.
