Cat with a rumbling tummy!

Hi - I don't know if any of you cat lovers out there have come across this. My older cat (she's 17) gets a very loud rumbly tummy every so often. It sounds like a drain and it even woke me up this morning! Mind you she was asleep right next to my head. She seems fine in herself - is eating and running around as normal but I have not come across this before and don't know if it's something I should be worried about. Any ideas?

Mine burp sometimes, but I can't recall ever hearing tummy rumbles - I'll listen out, though & let you know if I do!
My dogs stomach did that - but then he sucked his food down at a million miles per hour and wasn't fussy what he ate. Well - he didn't like jelly, but I hink that was more due to the fact he couldn't pick it up.

You could take her to the vet - stressing both of you out or just wait until she seems to be ill. I have a friend who has a 23 year old cat with a shiny coat and in perfect physical health - apart from being totally senile.
I have 3 persians. One of them sleeps wrapped round my head most nights. (Its ok in the winter but hellish in the summer) Anyway, his tummy rumbles and gurgles all the time. I think if people were to put their heads on their cats tummy they would also hear it. But it is only those of us who are daft enough to let them get so close that notice it.
go to a vet, shes old and may have an illness. One of my beloved cats died at 16. so take precautions. Hopefully she'ss be ok and may just have a sensitive stomach

Thanks for that everyone. She is quite lively and her coat is still lovely and glossy - I have had a good prod round but she displays no sign of discomfort. She is due for her MOT in a couple of weeks so I'll mention it to the vet then
Good luck, bensmum - keep us posted, won't you?
