Is it just me - in my inimitably hamfisted, computer-illiterate way - or is it the new, improved AnswerBank? I just...at 8 am Thursday... tried, twice, to post a link in answer to a question in the 'Food & Drink' category, but the usually blue, clickable address just appeared as a normal piece of black typing. Naturally, clicking on it achieved nothing. Anyone else experienced this? Alternatively, what did I do wrongly this time?

no, it seems to be a problem with the site. just tried posting that link first to see what happened and the same thing you experienced happened. something else for Darth Vadar to complain about?!! ;-)
I tried to put a link in twice and it didn't work.
Are we therefore to understand that the hated and despotic AB Editor has deliberately made it more difficult? Is that what yesterday was all about? No more proper links? No separate window for posting answers? Have I missed something?
Ok...for a quick run down on how to post links visit my question in the News section.

SHORTCUT HERE!

So, QM, it seems my newly acquired skill of cutting and pasting is no longer of any use?!!! sft - being the PC dunce I am, I can't quite fathom out your instructions - despite them being in 100' high red letters!! Can you explain again, bearing in mind I am a woman! ;-) Thank you!
I don't think I've ever known Quizzie to ask a question before :oP

The strange thing is, S, that - when I first came to AnswerBank over two years ago - the A HREF approach was the only one I knew of for providing links. Guess what? AB would have nothing to do with it! Clearly, I'm going to have to try it again.

Sorry, Flirty, that you have no sooner learned a skill than 'they' make it redundant!

It's rare, Paul, but I have been known to ask questions before...usually in reference to the madnesses associated with these cretinous machines, computers.

I am going to try a link
That did not work, so try again
Neither did that, so, as for Flirty, specific simple instructions will be very much appreciated, please.

Flirty and Lettice, Click here for a web-page that reveals all. At least it will if my link works! Instead of 'Click here for HTML goodies' - as you will see on that page - all you need to do is type in 'Click here' in AnswerBank.

So, do a left-arrow (that's one of these <) followed by A and a space then HREF followed by double quote-marks. Then - having cut the URL/address you want as a link - paste it in immediately after the quotes and, after it, close the quote-marks and put a right arrow (that's one of these >). Then the words Click here followed by another < then a forward slash (that's one of these /) followed by another >

God, that sounds complicated! Basically, it should all look as it does on my link-page. My apologies if my own effort fails, which is quite likely, I'm afraid.

Good grief...it worked!
I,m going to try it exactly as you say QM: http://www.google.com/"Click here

Got it !!! Thanks indeed, QM, but may I ask you to re-examine what you have posted - there seems to be an = sign and an A missing ! Very best wishes.

You're absolutely right, Lettice. Obviously, I did it correctly when creating the link and then described it badly when just talking about it! Clearly, I should have quit while I was ahead. At least we've both got it sussed, so well done.

PS. Anyone else reading this thread, just ignore my wittering above and pay attention solely to the link-page I provided!
