I think the refrigerante gas cools the inside temperature and recycles it.
The refigerant is on a cycle system and it absorbs the heat to be removed via the evaporator and expells the heat outside via the Condenser. It is a simple method of heat exchange. The compressor heats the vapor then it passes through the condenser where it looses its heat and turns to a liquid. The liquid then passes through the evaporator where the heat to be removed ( the load) is put over the evaporator, the liquid then boils off into a superheated vapor where it goes back to the compressor and so the cycle begins again. Hope this makes sense.
