Hi,all, don't know if this is the right section to post in, it is to do with health matters. I am looking for a 'mini-fridge' that I can store medications, (eye drops, creams etc.) at a temp. of around 16 c. in an ambient temp. of 30c-40c . These items state ' do not refridgerate' . Pharmacy fridges seem to want to be below 8 c. Any guidance much appreciated, P

I don't understand - if it says "do not", why are you refrigerating them?

Buy a little car fridge if you must - they are noisy but they work.
I ain't being funny, but if the items state "do not refrigerate" why would you want to put them in a fridge? I don't get it?
Seems pretty clear what they want to me. A cooler or similar that maintains a temperature of around 16c when the room or ambient temperature is 30-40c.

So I can understand what they want, but I cannot help - only time I have used such items have been wall-to floor cabinets from specialist lab suppliers....
You don't want a fridge, as such. You want a temperature-controlled storage box. Fridges don't "do" temperatures of 16C.
Why not discuss suitable storage for your medication with your pharmacist or GP?
If you need such specialised equipment for storing eye drops/creams etc, are you being prescribed massive amounts of these items and/or on a regular basis?
I have been prescribed both, but never worried about storage.

To 'boxtops' and 'TheWinner' I do not want to 'refrigerate' these items, that is normally classed as below 8c. , as' LazyGun' appreciates I want to keep these items at a temp. below 25 c but not below say 16 c. I keep my Insulin 'in the 'fridge' at 5c-8c but that is to cold for other items of medication, I just thought there might be thermostatic controlled units I do not know about, P
Ah - I see, thanks for the clarification. Tbh temperatures in centigrade still don't make sense to me....

To TheWinner, I understand your drift, there are certain medications that I have to have for 'emergency use' on 'flair-up of certain conditions. These need to be kept below 25 c but not' refrigerated'.

To, EcclesCake, I have discussed this and they have basically told me to find the solution I am asking about !, P
a stone box? marble perhaps?

Sorry,'gingejbee', missed yours in the replies, you've hit it on the head, I'm looking for a temp. controlled storage box, any ideas where I can get one? . Nothing on eBay or Amazon and can only find 'military suppliers' on the web
Question Author
thanks for idea 'woofgang' this requires regular replacement of 'wetted towels/cloths' to function, a bit like beer kegs of 'real ale' in pubs. ,P
Car fridges are not usually thermostatically controlled, they just drop the teperature by between 25C and 30C below ambient. What might do the job is a wine cabinet since most red wines are stored at about 15C. They don't seem to come in small sizes though.
Question Author
thanks.'jomifl', might well be the answer, as you say size might be the problem, well worth looking into , but a step in the right direction. P

Rosetta, thanks for direction,P
Sorry, sent before I was ready doh. This ^^^ has the temp range you are after and it doesnt look too big or too expensive
Rosetta: well thought! Just the job and really not expensive , considering.
