Can anyone answer a question for me regarding HD? If I have an HD DVD player, does it play normal DVD's in HD or do you have to buy DVD's made in HD? Sorry if this is a daft question but I'm a technophobe female.

Thanks

HDDVD players are all compatible with DVDs.

I imagine some will also upscale the image but it's not true HD. If you compare an upscaled DVD with the HDDVD equivalent you'll certainly notice the difference. But in my opinion it's not quite the quantum leap like the move from VHS to DVD was.

Thanks for your help!
HD Players will play normal DVD's in their optimum quality. It can't play normal DVD's in HD mode. You need an HD TV too of course.
HD?

Biggest con of the century lol

Well here's the thing. I've just bought a new 40 inch Sony Bravia but the picture quality ain't that great. My TV channels are supplied via Virgin and my brother blames the bandwidth of their signal but I don't know. I just want my picture to be better!
I've got Virgin Media and my picture on my Sony plasma is great - I don't rate LCD at all - if you have a word with Virgin - I'm sure they can boost there signal strength though - that might help.
