How do you set the time on one of these?

I have just had one passed down the family to me but it has no instructions.
There are two buttons marked time set + and -, but pressing them along with every other button has no effect.
prev Global warming... something just occured to me.

I don't know which model your "Dream Machine" is, but on my old Sony alarm clock I had to press and hold the button marked CLOCK whilst pressing the + or - buttons to set the time.
The + button was my hours and the - button was my minutes.

if you google 'sony' on tinternet and go to main site, downloads of lost intsructions are often available.
