Not all areas have decent coverage and will appear pixelated. I believe that the aim is to up date all areas to proper coverage but I've no idea how long this will take.
If you try to view say the Whitehouse or the Pentagon for example and most goverment or security places they are very blurred and you cannot see diddly-squat. I presume they are deliberatley like this for security issues.
Forget the previous post you can veiw the mentioned buildings they must have updated since the last time I looked.
Many featureless areas like deserts or woodland are not covered in detail, why would they be? Yyou see more detail near urban areas, but even then not all of them, that will take time.
Places of natural beauty, like Yosemite, are shown in more detail.
No doubt there are many others, but I do not believe that the whole earth will ever be shown enough to distinguish individual 'roof tiles'.
The only legitimate interested parties would be military, cartographers, or government and environmental agencies.
Google Earth is constantly being updated, but just who decides on which area should get priority is beyond me. In my area you can't even distinguish roads or buildings, yet in the nearby city you can even see the colour of the clothes on pedestrians!
You may also have seen in the news that they're going to downgrade up-to-date images of US military compounds and installations in Iraq. Complaints were made that they were just too detailed and would give terrorists too much info.
To get a better image for the area you want, you'll just have to wait...
