my fridge freezes at the back?

hi there, can someone please help?

my fridge will freeze all theproducts if they are placed at the back of the fridge? its very annoying, the top of the fridge is not cold and the bottom is very cold?
the thermostat is on the correct setting on number 4 of 5, the reccommended setting.
Any ideas? is my fridge had it??

Without seeing the problem, I'd guess at a few possibles.
First, is the door closing fully, is the door seal in good condition?
How old is the fridge? if its lost some coolant it will work harder for less effect.
I guess you've thrown it out by now, but hey.

havent thrown it yey, took it out defrosted it and put it back but its still forming droplets of water on the back panel and freezing it. it's a lot better now but still very cold at the bottom and not so cold at the top of the fridge is it just knackered??

how old is the fridge and did this problem start all of a sudden or has it been gradually getting worse??
Is there a gap between the grid of pipes at the rear and the wall? is the pipe grid warm or hot?
has it been bumped, or knocked hard ?
What brand is the fridge?
does it seem to be running all the time, or very often?

No, we moved into a house and had the fridge as part of the deal so we�ve had it since we were here which is a year and its done it for all that time hence don�t know its history!!?

As for the actual fridge it looks in excellent condition not damaged in any way the only thing that may be of importance is the fridge is built into a unit with cupboards and a work top on top, there is a small gap between the worktop and the top of the fridge which obviously feels warm. I can imagine this is because this is the only way the fridge can �breathe�. But I do wonder is it because of the fact the fridge is compact in and not able to cool down properly?
