Of course I need it. I had the drive installed especially for stored records from when computers were clockwork.

I have a lot of stored information on floppys that I have not yet got around to transfering.
i only asked.no need to be so @rsey.
Much as I dislike spending money unnecessarily, I don't like to be stressed!

Maybe this is a viable solution:

My Floppy drive is inactive and I cannot re-activate it. Not that I want to - The tiny amount of information stored on a floppy can be stored multi fold on a CD or external hardrive. Do you have a firend who has both a CD Writer and a working floppy ? It would take ten minutes to put a few floppies onto a CD. Ask him to do two copies - one for you to use and one for you to store as a back-up.

As regard your intial response to Mattk's answer - I don't think in this day and age that it was an unreasonable question to ask - I dont know anyone who uses floppies nowadays with all the other options - but a curt answer will not win you any friends on here After all people spend their own time answering questions and politeness costs nothing.
get yourself a USB floppy drive works well
yea, i just built my top of the range (literally) gaming machine... and i dont have a floppy, i didnt even consider one
