The answer is there's no difference other than a lot of hype and apples huge advertising budget!!
I thought ipod music was in AAC format rather than mp3?
iPod is a brand name, mp3 player is a generic description. Like hoover and vacuum cleaner.

as simonstown says theres absolutely no differance at all, if your getting a player get a cheap one,currys are doing a 1GB for �28,this should hold about 120 songs depending on the length of the track you up load.. i've lost two mp3 players in the past year alone but at �30 quid a go its not as bad as loosing an �100 i pod.
