could depend on where you are. I'm in the London area and have had no problems (I too have a thompson box, which occasionally freezes and then all I do is pull the plug and it's OK again)
you need to retune your box - some of the channels have been moved (film 4 definitely has been)
Well not in the London area and not today.
I retuned my freeview box today to see if i would get the 2 new Ch5 Channels & it looks like i will seeing as my box found the channels that they would be on & my film4 channel is still the same.
As Miss-taken suggests, re-tuning your Freeview box should fix the problem. However, I'll add that when you're given the option of 'add new channels' or 'replace exising channels', you should choose 'replace' rather than 'add'.

If you want to check whether you're tuning is currently up-to-date, take a look at channel 35. You should find a screen advertising 'Five US: Coming Soon'. (Similarly, channel 36 should be advertising Five Life). If you don't have these ads, your box definitely needs re-tuning.

Many thanks all,
i have taken note of all your suggestions.
Mike,

I have exactly the same problem! Where do you live? The Freeview people said it was the transmitter in my area not the box. Grrrrr.
perhaps you could try getting a signal booster?
