Depends on whether it's diesel or petrol but not usually until about the 65k - 75k. It will say so in your service manual. Or give your local Ford dealer a ring they'll be pleased to let you know.
Cambelt change at 40k, cambelt kit change at 80k.
RAC recommendation is every 23000 miles and they get their vans done on this basis. Don't risk it, get it changed as soon as possible. Repair work of a broken cambelt is in the region of 7-800.
about now!
i agree! fords are famous for going around the 30 k mark......best be safe!
change the entire kit!
i recently acquired a ford escort estate, 112,000 miles on it but immaculate condition and service history.

Before taking it on the continent I got a mate to change the cambelt kit to avoid potential problems. Apparently the cambelt had been changed not long back, but when he stripped it down, he saw that although the belt was good, cracks were starting to appear in the pulleys it went round. Could have resulted in disaster. So make sure that the entire lot is done!
Just before it snaps :-)
