Just a point of interest maybe, I created an art piece named electricblue, A metalart full size electric guitar.
If you......Oops! I see you don't want negative remarks about Dyson. Sorry - just ignore this.

heathfield thats horrible,if you dont own a decent vacuum like a DYSON then you should hang your head in shame!!
lol,,
ratter, you are a mine of information, yet another useful piece! You do know that now i'm gonna want to see it dont you?Can you get us a piccy?
Check there is nothing caught around the bits that spin round on the picker up thing, if you know what I mean. When mine makes horrible noises it's normally cos there is a load of hair stuck that is stopping it going round.

Hi doglady, checked that yesterday, cut all the hair away but still doing it,cant see anything caught!!
Electricblue - I do own a Dyson. It's been used twice, drove my wife to tears of frustration, and now sits in the garage gathering cobwebs. Nuff sed.

Love mine heathfield, got 2,one for upstairs and one for down, its just this,,,,,,,,,,,noise!
If you have checked the head then blast down the pipes with a hosepipe to clear any potential blockages. Wash out your washable filter and give the lifetime filter a good shake. The actual bottom of your head will come off if you turn those two clips to the vertical position and theres a little placebetween the brushes and the pipe end that often clogs. If none of that works ring Dyson and seriously they do sometimes ask you to turn the hoover on so they can listen down the phine to diagnose the problem - i laughed when the guy first asked me to, i thought he was having a joke but he wasn't!!
I think you need to be careful if you move those two clips to the vertical as the bottom of YOUR head will come off!!! And why would the people at Dyson want to hear your Hoover?
