I was distracted the other week while using my dyson, it make a crack/click noise and I do not know what I did. Now I cannot push it around. It is not a change in suction as it is hard to push even when turned off. I think it has lowered in someway. If this is the case it is not obvious on close inspection of the underneath of the dyson and the instructions are very basic and don't seem to cover height change.

If any one knows what is wrong and how to fix it could you explain in detail what to do, it would be much appreciated - maybe I will come round and vac for you as a thanks lol!

I have a cylinder type dyson (not upright type) and there is a switch on the head that changes the height for floors carpets etc. (i think there is a picture of a foot on it) if this is set wrong then i find it really difficult to move across floors. I think it has to be turned off to change the setting.

Cheers birt, I have an upright but there maybe a button with a foot symbol on it I will have a look.

Many thanks
check the soleplate.
This is the plastic trim around the brush.
You will probably find that it has broken/cracked and this is what is catching in the carpet and making life difficult.
You can get a replacement from dyson.
