We have just had an updated water bill and, having checked what we have already paid and added on the new Direct Debit payments, we have been overcharged by 27p. I know that this is not a lot of money, but if they are doing this to every customer just think of the extra money they are getting. Has anyone else been overcharged?

Yes and no. I applied for the discount available if your storm water pipes go into soakaways, not the mains drains (always a good money saver not many Water Companies can be bothered to tell you about). This was granted and I was sent a revised bill for the 2 years 2005/6 and 2006/7. It added up to exactly the same as previously, so no discount applied. After a long discussion with Accounts Dept, the chap on the other end saw what I was on about. Now I've been sent a revised bill however in the meanwhile I have paid the 01.04.06 half year payment. The total sum is now right but, because they calculate things in two half years, and we've only just started the new accounting year, they think I ought to pay half the residual amount payable in October now, and half in October. Completely useless at dealing with anything that doesn't fit what the computer tells them to do. Moan over.
