Haha, yes, only curious. I only ask after reading of someone that drowned themselves in a reservoir. Seemed impossible to my logic!? Hmmmm...

I suppose you could do the old gangster's trick of "concrete shoes" and weigh yourself down so you couldn't get up for air. The water would have to be deep enough though.

Apart from the above answers, its also possible to drown yourself just by drinking water.
also, what about just jumpoing into the resevoir knowing you cant swim? wouldnt that class as drowning yourself?

It is perfectly possible to drown yourself.

A person in a state of sufficiently severe depression does not need to overide the natrual and extremely strong survival insinct that means you cannot hold your breath on lkand until you die - they simply sink beneath the surface and await the relief from their suffering that they know is now at hand.

Anyone not in such a totally suicidal state has only to effectly remove the means of survival - swim out far enough into a stretch of water where it is impossible to swim back to land before becoming too exhausted to stay afloat.

Of course, the nrational mind would not venture into this situation, because suicide by drowning, or by any means is not a rational act.

To anyone who says they could never ever kill themselves, I say - and hopefully you never will be - you are simply not desparate enough to end your life. If you are, you can.

If there's a puddle in the road or on concrete, you could probably knock yourself out by diving into it and then drown.
I have to wonder why you want to know this, but yes, it can be done if one can find some way to override the natural reaction to breathe air, such as, for example, weighing oneself down and jumping into water. Although, it doesn't have to be a large body of water; people have been known to drown (usually accidentally) in just a few inches of water. Provided it's inhaled and not coughed back up (like when a drink goes down the trachea instead of the oesophagus by accident) it could drown one.
