Here's the chorus of this year's UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.  Unless the rest of the song is substantially better, I can't see it winning!

(You need to click the speaker icon, at the bottom of the video, to enable the sound - although I don't think that you'll be missing much if you don't bother!)

Nil point

I thought it was quite catchy.

How awful, a sure winner.

Question Author

^^^ If being awful is what really counts, Canary42, I reckon that the Irish entry has definitely got a head start in the contest ;-)

I agree Chris, it's doubly awful!!

Yes, EM1, I won't be placing any bets on the UK entry to win!

Question Author

Yes Chris, that's a strong competitor certainly.

Why do they have to be so excruciatingly painful.

Bring back ABBA.

Or, perish the thought, Cliff Richard.

... or Sandie Shaw?

Canary42:
Perhaps we should bring back . . .

. . . and, then again, perhaps NOT!

The best Eurovision song ever - and not just because I've got the hots for Ilse DeLange 😊

Bare feet on stage would probably contravene Health & Safety rules these days!

Bare feet on stage would probably contravene Health & Safety rules these days!

... and listenining to the songs doesn't.

The OP song sounds a mix of three other songs thrown together.

It would have been better not to see the video.

The sound was OK but the fashion/look of the singer was extremely off putting. He looked like a younger, creepier David Walliams in a schoolgirl skirt.

Null points from me.

^^^ Only three, Arky?

Question Author

>>> "It would have been better not to see the video"

. . . or possibly not to have heard it either, in my opinion, J-R!

Never mind the bare feet - what about the Buck's Fizz blokes ripping the girls skirts off.

That would be sexual assault (inappropriate touching) these days.

Well erm... first listen sounded that familiar only three sprung to mind... gotta say some talent on stage with Scooch... shame about the song 😉

This song from Eurovion 1958 took on another life after the contest...

Apology: what I referred to earlier as a skirt, is apparently a kilt. Though the singer is English and the garment is not tartan, it is a manly kilt and not a womanly mini skirt.

Confusing times, indeed.
