I am a mod on my local Nextdoor group and would appreciate a chat with anyone else who is in the same position (not necessarily in my local group!) I think it is a bizarre way to moderate

Looks like a bizarre set up all round Ken. Like Hotel California ... you can never leave.
Ken sends his love and sorry he can't be here
I keep getting emails from Next Do or telling me they need new people from our neighbourhood to join before we can offially have a next door group. The problem is we havent got the number of people needed. We really haven't got a neighbourhood.
Haha. Thanks Baz. I did mean the op Barry of course. Ken is busy right now.
Have you tried closing your account MissTerious? Looks nigh on impossible ... according to the review sites.

It's very simple to deactivate a Nextdoor account
I dont think ive got an account. I cant get into anything they send from other parishes. All I get is occasional emails telling me they are sorry our Parish can't be in next door until we get some new people joining. Ou Parish area wise is huge, one of the largest in Norfolk with only 54 dwellings and less than 100 on the electoral role. That includes 2 villages with miles between them and us with 2 neighbours and one empty property
So as it's unlikely a next door moderator is going to answer this perhaps you can tell us what's bizarre about it for the interest factor? I'm on my nextdoor, it never crossed my mind it even had moderators to be honest but obviously it does..
What is Nextdoor? Is it something I should know about?
It's them through the wall.
I seem to remember that if you want to participate, you have to give them your phone number and I won't do that.
I just Googled it, memories of Amway etc.

Just another cult from the US in my opinion.
I might be getting mixed up with something called In Your Area.

As a mod I get emails asking me to review reported posts. This could be days after the post was put up and I have to vote whether the post should be removed, left or maybe removed.
I have no idea how many moderators have to vote before action is taken
I never gave my phone number, just an email and usually your real name. It's not really for general chit chat but local news, missing cats, why is the road closed, can anyone recommend a gardener, things for sale etc. No different really from when we used to put cards up in the window of a local shop etc. I limit myself to just my local large village.
Prudie I think that's what I have. Is it in green writing? If I want to respond to a post, they ask for my phone number so I haven't bothered with it.
I wouldn’t touch this with a barge pole with a stick tied to the end of it.
How do you deactivate it?
I would stay well away from nextdoor
Naomi, there's an unsubscribe link but at the top, not at the bottom.
