Came into kitchen this morning. The window and ledge were alive with hundreds of thousand flies. All tiny like pin heads. We cleaned it all down, sprayed fly killer. Went back in half an hour later, loads there again. Had a rethink. There is a pot with parsley growing on the window sill. It's been there for about 6 weeks. I shook it and more fell out. That plant is no more. Cleaned it all up again and sprayed.
Has anyone any idea what these flies were and why suddenly appear?

Fruit flies.
Question Author
Parsley isn't a fruit. why appear now?
Although more noticeable on rotting fruit any uncovered food left for any length of time will attract them.
Hi, Caran...have a google of fruit flies. They come from so many places.

Now by the way did you see Sqad's response to you on the Father and Son ENT thread? :-)
gness - what the hell are you doing on here? Thought you'd be somewhere fab, lying on a rosepetal-strewn bed wearing nothing but Byzance, waiting for Dave to come in....I believe he even gave up doing The Listener on Friday for some reason :)

Many congrats, by the way
How on earth do you know that Byzance is my favourite perfume, Brainiac!
I'm afraid The Listener won out. As did my knitting.....and this is Ireland....too cold for just perfume and petals..... :-)

Thanks for the congrats....xxx

Gness I hadn't but I have now!!
I see you have!!!
....well you told me it was your favourite that night in Kettering....
Oh lord.....not that freezing night under the old railway bridge?
the very one :)
"Do you like Kettering"

"I'm not sure - it's been a while since I Kettered"
Ahh...I remember...it was so cold that my nose turned red and your........ ;-)
Aw Dave, you can't beat a good Ketter on a Saturday night.
Isn't it 'Ketrin'?

I think I have lost the plot somewhere!
I take it you both have a flight to Faro booked for Monday morning, and car hire for onward journey to Tavira?
No Ummmm! You've put in a t. The times I told the children in school that we live in KeTTering...not kerin.
Question Author
What is going on? Is this a wind up?
A week in Tavira would be bliss, Brainiac but I don't know if you're aware of the strict rules on returning to Ireland now. We may be able to leave but getting back would mean long quarantine and be expensive.
Poor Dave would be stuck in a hotel room with me for a week or two....unless of course they've changed things in the last hour... :-)
