Just heard that on the radio Sandy. Very sad as she is the same age as me and was a big part of my early teenage years. Went with a friend to the north of Scotland and we played My Boy Lollipop to death on the cafe jukebox. Thanks for the memory Millie, RIP
I read somewhere years ago that it was Rod Stewart who played the harmonica on My Boy Lollipop, anyone know if this is true?
My age as well. That song makes me think of our village youth club. RIP Millie
Yes it was rod Stewart who played the harmonica on my boy lollipop.
Very sad, a sweet girl with
lovely voice.
She played The Cavern in the Beatles era. RIP Millie.
Yes it was rod Stewart who played the harmonica on my boy lollipop.

What?
Gosh she must have only been 17 when my boy lollipop was released.

and no, Rod Steward did not play harmonica on it .
Problem royfromaus?
English not your first language?
Or are you just being confrontational?
Mmmmmm I maybe stand corrected here......appologies
from Wiki
" It is unclear who played the harmonica – urban legend credited Rod Stewart for many years, but he has denied it. Instead, it was almost certainly either Pete Hogman or Jimmy Powell, both of The Five Dimensions. Pete Hogman and Five Dimensions guitarist Kenny White both maintain it was Pete Hogman, while Jimmy Powell asserts that it was he who played this solo.[13] Millie Small in an interview with journalist Tom Graves in the August 2016 issue of Goldmine magazine insists that it was Rod Stewart who played the harmonica solo. "
apparently it was Pete Hogman of The Pete Hogman Blues Band

Why does everything have to turn into an argument on this site? Who gives a flying fig who played the harmonica on her record all these years ago. Thought we were paying our respects to a singer who will be missed and brought pleasure to many.
Another song she was known for:
