Virgin Media No Sound On Hd Channels

Has anyone any ideas on why I cannot get sound on any Virgin TV HD channels? Only happened today. On all other channels the sound is ok but the HD versions are picture only. Cannot get sound on previously recorded HD programmes either. Just asking before I give them a ring and spend ages hanging on waiting to speak to someone with inadequate english. Have switched it off for 5 minutes and also checked all connections at the back and they seem ok. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that Chris. You are a star. Changed the Dolby Digital to PCM and it all works ok now (no idea what any of that means but who cares).
