Friday. It's nippy outside, So I doubt it'll be shirtsleeve order when I go out.

A good meeting at the hospice yesterday. I found out there will be nine taking the dive for the hospice. Some of the hospice staff will be there. It's confirmed that my donation collecting has passed the £1000 mark. So thank you all who have donated. Only two weeks and one day to go. :o}

Have a happy day everyone.

Fine Ta , didn't get shopping yesterday as oh had to go for eye tests..so off to get it today..think it is to be nice...might hang a wash out before we go..Do you have weather conditions for your jump yet ?
Question Author
You've just reminded me that I've got a load of washing to do too. ta! :o}

No, we won't really know for sure until the day. I'm glad I'm not the only one though.
Good morning Minty, and boatman. So Boaty your soon for the high jump. I wish you safe landing. A very laudable endeavour to undertake, especially as you are no spring chicken. I prefer Terra Firma personally.

Morning david. Thank you. It's for a very good cause. It costs £10,000 a day to run the hospice, and all that money comes from donations and fundraising, there is no government help at all, which I think is disgraceful when I see some of the things the government throw our money away on.
How’s things in beautiful Scotland minty?
I agree Boatman. Government squandering is and always has baffled me. Greed, self interest, stupidity, a mix of all three? I don’t know.
Better now the festival is over ! Lol... a time we all have to bear and grin it through every August.... weather still not bad..building to start next week all being well...
£10,000 a day? Over £3,600,000 a year for one hospice?
Question Author
I agree. The amount they send abroad is breathtakingly enormous when that money could be better spent at home.
Here on the Isle of Wight has been exceptionally busy this summer. Can’t move for Grockles, tourists. Traffic appalling, but easing off a tad now. People seem to be holidaying more in the UK lately.
Question Author
Yes. Staggering, isn't it. Longfield Hospice doesn't have a residential unit. What we do have is a Hospice at Home. Where the patient s in his or her own home, among their family and in their own surroundings. A dedicated nurse will visit every day, stay overnight if necessary, and will always be there at the end to help the family through that very difficult time, with everything that has to be done, and there is a lot!

I know the I.o.W very well. I used to live in Cowplain, I spent a lot of time on the Solent and the Channel.
Good people doing sterling work. There are many good folk around. We just hear about the bad stuff, especially from the Daily Wail....
Question Author
I agree with you there David. Without volunteers it couldn't work. I'm also an Ambassador for the hospice.
And a very fine one too. Off now, be lucky.
Question Author
Thank you. Have a good day.
Bye David xx
