Haven’t had one for ages, but now, what.
Looked on line. Froze it with an ice cube, heated it with a warm used tea bag, bought Zovirax and carefully followed the instructions, but none of it made a damn bit of difference.
Thoughts folks??

I find that putting 'Sudocrem' on the cold sore helps. That's what worked for me when I couldn't shift it after 5 days using the usual stuff like Zovirax. Apply before going to bed and it will do it's magic as you sleep.

Probably overdone it!!
I use ice cube during day, at night I use a cream.
Mine usually last a week.
Zovirax as often as you think of it. Definitely more than the five times a day it recommends. Don't let it get crusty. And try to resist the temptation to cover it up with makeup.
just forget about it and it will go away of its own accord.

Thanks all. It’s now at the horrible stage.
Will just try and ignore it.
I'd do the sudocrem tip. I've never had one myself but I know sudocrem works very well for other sores. Just don't get a little pot, it's almost impossible to get the lid off.
Try a different anti viral, this one worked well for me when acyclovir stopped working

I find Zovirax very effective and slap it on whenever I feel that 'cold sore coming tingle'.
if you have tea tree oil try it otherwise it just goes away in its own time.
Ordinary hydrocortisone 1% available OTC works well but I also find Acyclovir cream (Zovirax) works really well for me. Usually it only takes 1 application, or 2 at most, to completely resolve.

Where exactly is the cold sore located?

Again thanks all.
Fan, tried Sudocream and it seems to be working. Much better than that little tube of expensive cream. Thank you.
