I want to find some information on two British patents issued in 1931. I Googled "British Patents" and got loads of sites, and all of these sites had tons of information; however, I could not find one where I could just type the patent number in, press search, and get the information. Does anyone here know of such a site?

Does the ticking of all your clocks not drive you nuts?

After a while the sound just fades into the background; even the strikes on the hours, and chimes on the quarter-hours.

I was interested in their range finder finesse. Seems they were respected for their optics as well. A lot of rangefinders were made by Barr & Stoud at about 1917 and were used during the second W.W.

Ruddy well Yes. :-( I rang the ward at 1400hrs. They still hadn't sorted out the bed situation. I was asked if I still wanted to wait for one today as I had intimated I could go in at 0730 tomorrow.I told them that I would rather go in now as Mrs retro would have get up at 0600 to drive me in tomorrow and in any case I have no instructions about when to stop fasting as I have no paperwork instructions etc and I don't even know what time my op will be tomorrow! She said hang on then and if no bed available she would tell me about fasting etc. I should of gone for a few beers. I don't believe they will even ring me back now.. :-(
Ring them again Retro
Just got a call. No bed today. Have to be at ward tomorrow at 0800. Nil by mouth after 0200, except water black tea /coffee til o600 then zilch til after op. No 3 on list so looks like op will be in the afternoon. :-( Now I do go out for a few beers. xxxx

All the best to you, retro. A couple of wobbly-pops shouldn't hurt.
Necking one back now as i read your advise. Just been told my op has been cancelled for tomorrow. It gets worse.
retrocop ~ I have an excellent GP but I find that the overall service at the Vets surgery is much better. Maybe give them a phone, but stress that you don't want your gonads removed. They can be a bit snip happy.

Good luck with your hospital stay ~ at this rate you might die of old age before the NHS find you a bed.

Retro, and wolf63; I just got around to printing the pdf versions of those patents relating to the pendulum and escapement. I shall place them in the case for future reference for future owners...Thanks again to you both.
Stuey, it won't work for me either. Maybe the computer is celebrating Easter.

Will try in the morning. My brain is very tired tonight :-)

Guess what? I tried it again about two minutes ago, and it worked!
