Please God, can someone help with my daughters homework.

The HCF of 2 numbers is 6. The LCM of the same two numbers is 72.
What are the numbers?

I'm twisted and my head hurts.

Please help :)

The trouble is, Togo, that site gives the wrong answer for the LCM
Ah that's better 864 and 6.
That site is wrong
Wow rocky tell your gal we love homework.
The numbers are 8 and 18.
2 is the only factor they share.
72 is divisible by both.

Many thanks to you all, you've been a great help. Poor daughter has a test tomorrow and she's really worried, she's a high achiever but maths seems to stump her for some reason.

FF, you answer seems to make sense to her, so, many thanks to you.
The HCF we want though is 6 though not 2
divebuddy- LCM of 12 and 18 is 36 not 72

6 and 12

Factors of 72 are 2x2x2x3x3

Split that to give 3x2 and 3x2x2
Sorted now, I think the answer is now agreed as 6 and 72. Sorry I jumped in and threw things off track initially by misreading it
Scrub that, can we have a self edit feature?????
But the LCM of 6 and 12 is 12 not the 72 we need, zebo
Agreed zebo- i could have done with an edit button earlier!
Rocky - when you hear, could you please let us know the teacher's answer.

But, J-J, again the LCM of 12 and 18 is 36 not the 72 we need
Fiction - did I give 12 as an answer?
