I have a movie on my computer in avi format which i would like to burn to a dvd to watch on my dvd player.

I have managed to burn it once, but it only plays on my computer, but not on my dvd player, it just doesn't recognise that there is a disc in there at all????

Anyone any ideas how i burn it, to be able to watch it on my dvd player?

Thanks in advance :)

It could be the format of disc, certain players only play DVD- OR DVD+ . others play both - aswell as Video CD's etc.
The disc obviously works as it plays in your computer, so I would guess its the Player - similar situation whereby a PS2 will play aithentic discs but unfortunately not copied ones Pretty poor answer sorry, but it would be worth checking what format your player accepts.(most newer ones should be both however?)
Did you burn the avi file to disc, or did you create a DVD?

It looks like you just burnt the avi file to the DVD disc and most DVD players do not support AVI files, some do, look at the DK Range.

To convert an AVI to DVD use a program called VSO2VOB ( I think that is what it is called ), You have to create the VOB data and index files on a DVD for a DVD player to recognise it.

As regards DVD-R / DVD+R on DVD players you will have more luck with Ritek +R discs, as for PC Ritek/Traxdata/Arita -R etc will work fine.
