My husband put a new digital doorbell up for a friend today only to discover it was ringing when a neighbours bell was rung.

I understand there is a setting that needs to be altered but from what to whatever we have no idea?

Can anyone enlighten us please.

Mine does exactly the same, with the exception that it plays a different tune for the neighbours.......time for a nosey to see who they have calling :))
Our doorbell used to ring when next door locked/unlocked their car with the remote.
We guessed at a short range radio signal on the same frequency.
On some you can change the operating frequency within the bell and push...if not buy a wired unit..they are better with no problems.
Take it back to the shop, expain your problem, if they can't change the frequency they might change the complete unit.
It's operating on the same frequency as the neighbours. On most models, you can change the frequency. I'm not too sure how to do this, there should be an instruction leaflet that came with it, but I think you have to remove some tabs inside the unit, giving you the option of quite a few different frequencies to choose from.
The ability to change the setting is probably on the bell part. failing that open up the push button and see if it's there. For best results get a wired doorbell :-)
