I've got a Fiesta and the headlights are rubbish on it, and the dial that is meant to raise and lower the beams doesn't seem to work at all - can I get more powerful bulbs to increase visibility? TIA

Yes you can get more powerful bulbs, islasmum, what bulbs are in there now.
Has the light from your headlights suddenly got dim or have they always been like that ?.
Is the headlamp glass cloudy?

Perhaps a really thorough vigorous clean might improve things.

Alternatively if the reflectors are manky, the headlamp units might need replacing.

If the device for adjusting the level doesn't work, don't worry. As long as they are set correctly, you shouldn't need it (unless you regularly carry fat friends in the back seat or tow a caravan)

I haven't had the car very long (bought in August) so I don't really know if this is a recent problem or not, and I'll give the headlamps a jolly good clean! Thanks for your answers.
I have no idea why, but some people suggest toothpaste to clean headlights.

If the poor light output IS due to poor original lamps, then you can upgrade them easily with something like Osram Nightbreaker Plus, available on Amazon, Ebay etc. Make sure you check the type of bulb required (H4 or H7 etc).
