Cats And Chlorine

Got home from swimming last night and dumped my towel and cossie on the floor to take down to the wash. While I was in the shower I noticed the cat ecstatically nuzzling into the little pile. There's obviously something about chlorine he loves.

Anyone else cats do this? There's no harm to come from it is there?

Our cats would prefer to drink out of the swimming pool (chlorinated water) than out of their bowls (tap water)

No harm as far as i can see with the small amount of chlorine that you are talking about.

Odd creatures. Wonder what it is they like so much about it.

ASBO LOVES chlorine. If the boys go swimming, he rubs himself silly on their wet towels and trunks.

He also loves bleach, which is a nuisance because I have to exclude him from a room if I use bleach - I caught him rubbing himself in the sink one day after I had just bleached it.
Eric likes the smell of bleach... he always tries to get in the bathroom if it's just been bleached. Strange animal. Not noticed him at my swimming bag yet though thankfully.
Blue (and Tigger) hate the smell of chlorine. I have to give Blue her drinking water from the hot tap as she won't drink it from the cold tap which to me has a slightly chlorinated smell to it.

Bleach! Don't use that in my house ;)

I did catch him on the dining table a few weeks ago having a good old sniff of a bunch of lillies. Little bugger.

Careful with the lillies - there are certain types of lillies that are posionous to cats and can make them very very ill.
The slightest whiff of bleach makes me gag. I can't use it in my house.
Lilies are poisonous to cats. Remove the stamens because a cat will brush against it and then clean himself.
Must type faster.

I know they are, that was my point :)
If I have been swimming or had bleach or cleaning stuff on my hands one of my cats will grab my hand and start rolling around on the floor licking and rubbing my hand for the smell or taste! Quite funny but eventually quite annoying as she just wont leave you alone until you have found something to cover the smell!
