Afternoon all. Can I address a letter to a person at another address by using C/O? E.g.

Joe Bloggs
C/O Any Street
Any Town
Postcode

Or do I have to use another name whom the letter will pass through? E.g.

Joe Bloggs
C/O John Doe
Any Street
Any Town
Postcode

Thanking you in advance of your help.............

Why not just put Joe Bloggs, Any St,...?
Either will do. There are no rules/laws as far as I know
personally i would go for either, but not factor's. the reason i say this is because living in a village, my postman knows u, and very kindly weeds out letters addressed to the previous person
I think it depends what arrangement you have with the person who lives at the address you are c/o-ing. Either will do!
I agree bednobs it's better in a case like yours to use a c/o, but for my area Based on this summer I seem to have a different postman/woman most days and they struggle to find the right house and probably wouldn't notice if my post was addressed to Colonel Gaddafi.
The Postmen and women are supposed to deliver letters to the house they are addressed to, whether they know it is correct or not. Eg if Mr Brown lives at 2 Acacia Avenue and Mr Smith lives at no 4, but the postman has a letter addressed to Mr Brown at 4 Acacia Avenue then he has to put it through the letter box of no 4, even if he KNOWS that Mr Brown lives at no 2 and that Mr Smith lives at no 4. So basically, either of your examples will do!
