have checked bulbs, the circuit is not fused, any ideas ?

Not familiar with that car, but there should be a way for the lights to be earthed to the metal bodywork of the car.  If you find it, it may need a clean.
hi im an ex-ford parts man and generally the problem is the indicator/light and wiper switch which is all in one. They are usually the culprit to these problems and after checking and making sure that all *********** are ok on the lights, id try and put one on just to see if it fixes the problem. Ford sells these switches like toffee sweets. Also a big problem too is the fuse box which ford sells like mad on these escorts because they get water ingress and burn out. A switch can be costly...40 to 60 pounds depending on what model and the fuse boc...ouch about 145. let me know if this has helped and if theres anything else u want to know
btw the way, i forgot to mention that the switch is behing your steering wheel on the column, take the cowling off by unscreewing it and its the for you to see (looks like a bike handle bars)
