I know I'll never get my hotplates looking like new but is there anything that will get the ground in dirt off? I've tried scourers, jif or cif or whatever its called, cillit bang, mr muscle etc. but nothing seems to work.

Are they the solid ones or the "spiral" type Tiggs?
Question Author
The solid ones Bob.
Do you know anyone with an electric drill and a wire wheel attachment. It's just like a wire brush, but circular. It's (roughly) how they buff metal up to a shine.
Worth a shot.
Even better if you lift the top .......... then take the plates out and do them in a workshop. The hotplates usually just sit in there.

I don't but I'm sure my dad will. I'll ask him about it.

Thanks Bob :o)))
oven cleaner, then turn them on but not enough to dry it off. Then a good scrub with a scourer (rubber gloves essential)

Thanks Jomifl, I'll have a go with that first and then do what Bob suggests if it doeasn't work. I've had them for over nearly 15 years and the red dots in the middle have completely gone.
Hi tigger, it may take several goes.

Are there any oven cleaners that don't smell strong? I'm in and out of the kitchen quite often due to Lt Tiggs and his feeding habits.
