I want to touch up my 1980's furniture which is black or ebony. No black dye in DIY shops. Most curious.

Squires Model & Craft Tools have something called palette wood dyes which are water-based and 'child safe'. According to the catalogue they do one called ebony.

The Sadolin will stain anything black.
Black paint, if it's only a touch up job?
Black Indian ink, from an art supply shop, will work just as well. But if you want to add a varnish afterwards, use a water-based one, as some solvents will dissolve the ink.
Our local 'poundland' shop has touch-up pens for light and dark wood. Is there one near you that may have it too?
