I had wonderful advice re my knocker and knobs being tarnished and dull, they are a credit to my entry now.
The problem I have is that the flap seems to be made of different stuff and is very tired looking, any ideas?

Well in my position I have to consider all possible scenarios you see.
Please everyone - do NOT ask Mamya what her position is today! I think we can guess the answer?

It's not my fault I have a stiff neck, cos' I have to keep looking at my flap to answer all your questions.
mamya, you'll get run in for looking at your flap in public

Well I am known to the locals, they understand, I think!! Maybe they just tolerate me.
well, you don't want it too tight for the postman to get in, I suppose. But remember that in the summer it can look very pretty waving in the breeze, especially if you have it done with nice stripes.

Ah a sensible answer at last, are you suggested a painted finish?? Had not considered that, will give it some thought.

What about the smell though?
Fret not boxy, I am sure Mamya has mentioned before that her flap is in a secure private entrance. Phew.
Leave a window open all the while you are striping Mamya. As an afterthought you could always cut an onion in half and place it near your flap.
anyone want a grape???
you could get the same effect by careful mowing

You'd have to cut it quite short if the 1st XI is turning out to play on it, though, you don't want anyone's balls spinning in the rough..
Maiden over and out jno
Mamya, I've still got the bunting in my shed from bobbi's general election Plebs' party, it's purple but I could lend it to you.

Flap dear not Lawn!! tut, I suppose a sample pot of paint would do, could change the colour each season, very stylish.

Oh Boxy, how kind!! I would be the talk of the street then.

Katy I do hope those grapes are seedless, I have to be careful.
Or you could have a monthly makeover, Mamya?
btw, my postie says mine is far too tight to get his fingertips in even. I tried to ease it off a bit by applying the bolt cutters to the spring from the inside, but unfortunately it took a lot of muscle :o(
How did such an innocent thread descend into such sexual chaos? Something tells me that the Carry on team and Benny Hill are smiling at us from heaven :)
oh dear, Ena, did you overdo the Uhu? Well, a liberal application of WD 40 may assist; I think you can get it in quart bottles these days.
Question Author
JR, you may well ask!!

Now another slight query, do you think the paint will adhere? I once asked a door to door salesman to have a look (think he sold me the 'Bang' stuff) he said it was 'anodised' now I don't recall ever having a procedure of that sort done, but with my medication affecting my memory it may well be.

So will this affect any finish I apply?
JR - if you think Mamya is innocent - well!
jno - I meant that it took a lot of muscle power - that spring looked more innocent than does Mamya, believe you me. However, working in such a confined space and in poor light - my vestibule only has a small bulb - did have its drawback
