Have to clean a lot of cycling medals to make a display, some are silver, some a mix of gold and silver, some bronze, some pewter and some maybe tin. All ideas would be very welcome , am a bit flummoxed. thanks in advance.

Thank you both vey much -- off to have a go.
Durex
Sorry, meant to say Duraglit (if they still make it). Worked wonders in the RAF.
I think you mean Duraglit Mike :-)
Realised the moment I pressed 'submit'. Oh, for a preview facility!
Easy to see what's on your mind Mike.
The thing is, we always used to call it Durex in the RAF - typical juvenile barrack-room humour.
Why not use that 'Dip' stuff?
Or try cola?
Yes .. The large paint tins of it the RAF supplied us with were very handy for home/car work ; )
Mind you, Brasso (or Meppo, as I think the brand was) did have its uses. It was not unknown for us to be skint two days before payday. We would then scrounge some stale bread from the mess, go to the cleaning cupboard and snaffle a few tins of the stuff, filter it through 4 slices of bread, add some orange juice and get palatic. It's a wonder I'm not blind by now (although I do wear glasses!)
