my mums bedroom ceiling has about a 30 inch crack in it and either side of the crack it is sagging, this was caused by a water leak, i was just wondering if it is possible to repair it or is it a case of just getting the whole ceiling replaced. The ceiling has a slight patterned artex on it.

Don't know about ceilings but any advice on repairing cracked sagging parts would be most welcome from my end.
You don't need to replace the whole ceiling. look on youtube for ceiling repeair - the usual thing is to cut out the bad bit and insert a good bit of plasterboard having marked it out as a template forthe bit you are removing first. Not explained very well but youtube it and see.
OK John .............. dunno how Post-Op has got time for this .......... he's engaged now :o)
Sagging is where it's become detached from the ceiling joists. As Postie says, cut out this part ............ keep cutting until you get back to an edge that is still securely attached. Replace with new plasterboard, and re-finish with plaster.
The important thing is to not bother filling the crack. It'll keep coming back, and eventually end up on the floor.

I was here cos she was watching strictly and then straight on to the x factor - not my cuppa either of them.
while those programmes are on, you could try standing on the ceiling repair, Postdog....
We had exactly the same thing, a nice man came and fixed it for us and plastered it back in so you can't see where the damage was...he had to chop out quite a bit more than was visible from the outside to get back to firm, attached plasterboard...quite a big hole...cost 70 quid which i thought was money well spent.
Postdog - with those two programmes on you could try standing on the repair and see if your family notice - or was that our world crashing in...............?
"quite a big hole...cost 70 quid which i thought was money well spent."
