I have the above lawnmower which has not got a detachable lead. As my OH has cut the lead by mowing over it, how can I replace it? TIA

Put in a `Chocolate block connector` This is a small square plastic thing with 4 small screws inside where you put the ends that were cut into after exposing the wire inside the lead, and.....it`s best left to a person who knows what they are doing.
You can get in-line "water-proof" connectors, eg B&Q, other stores also stock them! If you go the route carlton23 is suggesting then it will need to be insulated/waterproofed! use of a Residual Current Ciruit Breaker is always recommended if you are in danger of severing a cable. If it's any consolation I have also hover-mowed the cable on my mower!

OH put in "chocolate box connector" but is it safe?
Ask yourself this question, "is it safe to trail exposed electrical connections through wet grass?" I'll leave you to make your own decision.
As Doc says, it really must be a waterproof connector.
An RCD in the garage where the thing runs from will do no harm but in virtually every case such garden tools are double-insulated and as such have no earth connection at all. Thus an RCD has no help when this sort of thing happens. As evidence of this, I have cut the lead on my hedge-trimmer not once but twice. On each occasion the overcurrent breaker (MCB) trips (because the leads have momentarily shorted together with a metal conductor) but the RCD does not trip at all.

Use 2-pin if fully insulated appliance (like a flymo is)

Thanks for your replies. I'm phoning an electrician tomorrow!
(Groans) - getting an electrician to undertake this job is like asking a brain-surgeon to tend to a minor cut.

That may be buildersmate, but my OH is a disaster with electrcity and I don't trust myself to do it.
Just like fitting a plug. There is a clamp .. two connections .. 5 screws to do up in total. Mains connection can go either way around, too!
